Is dieting for you?
- Close your eyes and imagine waking up and being the perfect size you desire (even if it's size 10). Imagine how you would feel and give this feeling a mark out of 10 (remember this number).
- Now imagine eating one of your favourite foods which is one of your vices and give this feeling a mark out of 10.
If Number 2 was higher:
If you got a higher number for the latter (your vice) - you like eating food and putting on weight more than losing weight. You will always fail at dieting because it is not your priority, so dieting is not for you. Continue to eat what you like and be fat and happy. Think of the Jo Brand attitude -
"yeah i'm fat so what, I like cake!" You have to admire Jo for such a stance, at least she's honest, and she's not in denial. If you can take the same stance, then you can be happy without dieting. But just before you do, imagine someone calling you fatty; could you take the
"yeah I like cake" attitude? or would you feel like bursting into tears? If it''s the latter - you're in denial and not happy with yourself. If it's the former and you're big and proud - good for you, but just be aware of
what you're eating. Size may not matter, but your health does.
If Number 1 was higher:
If you got a higher mark for number 1, (e.g. happier being a size 10) and you are not losing weight - it means you are not being honest with yourself. Every time you are presented with your vice food replace the image of the food with what you experienced in step 1 and make a choice between the two.
If this task changes the way you see food, you will be successful and lose weight. If it doesn't and you still can't exercise any control over your vice, you are still not being honest with yourself - go back to step 1 and use your imagination more, then read the hard core motivation tips on the next page.
